Bamboozled by the Soft Life: Finding True Ease and Balance
Is Soft Life Really What We Think It Is?
For years, I chased the idea of the soft life—thinking that with more success and experience, life would automatically get easier. But after three years of back-to-back burnout—launching a business, writing a book, planning a wedding, and navigating slow business growth—I woke up in 2024 knowing something had to change.
I had been praying for ease, for peace, for rest. But then it hit me: How can I ask for ease when my schedule is packed with no space for it to enter?
That was my wake-up call. True soft life isn’t just about holidays, shopping, or working less—it’s about building a strong foundation that keeps you grounded even when life gets tough. Here’s what I’ve learned about redefining ease and balance.
1. Being vs. Doing: The Real Soft Life
I used to believe that living out my purpose meant constantly doing—pushing, striving, and working non-stop. But real fulfillment comes from being—tuning into yourself, understanding what your soul needs, and creating space for rest and reflection.
Your worth isn’t based on how much you do.
Pause and ask yourself: What does my soul need right now?
Prioritize your sense of self before your to-do list.
2. You Can’t Have a Soft Life Without Hard Moments
The truth? Life is hard. But that doesn’t mean it has to feel hard. Challenges will come, but resilience is about navigating them with grace.
Growth isn’t smooth—it comes with cuts and bruises.
Change is painful, but that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Instead of complaining or quitting, lean in and build strength.
Acknowledging that life is hard isn’t negative—it’s real. The key is to remind yourself: Life is hard, but I can do hard things.
3. The Balance Between Hustle and Ease
We talk about soft life, but when reality doesn’t match our expectations, we get disillusioned. So, where’s the balance?
Hustling non-stop isn’t the answer, but neither is waiting for life to magically feel easy.
Resilience isn’t hustle culture. It’s knowing life will have challenges and facing them head-on.
The goal isn’t to avoid struggle but to move through it with intention and grace.
4. The Law of Least Effort: Flow, Not Force
Nature doesn’t rush, yet everything gets done. This is the Law of Least Effort—letting go of unnecessary struggle and moving with intention.
Accept where you are.
Take responsibility for your actions without over-controlling outcomes.
Stop forcing things and start creating space for flow.
When you stop gripping so tightly, you allow life to unfold naturally, bringing opportunities that align with you.
5. Soft Life Requires Strong Foundations
True ease comes from building resilience in every area of your life:
Spiritual: Find peace through prayer, meditation, or self-reflection.
Mental: Challenge limiting beliefs and self-doubt.
Emotional: Acknowledge your feelings and give yourself grace.
Physical: Take care of your body—rest, nourish, and move.
When your foundation is strong, setbacks won’t shake you. You’ll walk through life’s challenges without constantly feeling drained.
“Final Thoughts: Redefining Soft Life”
Soft life isn’t about avoiding difficulties—it’s about moving through them with strength, peace, and intention.
Your Challenge: This week, pause before your to-do list. Ask yourself: What does my soul need? Start leading with being instead of doing.
